LoopMasters Present Lack of Afro “Analogue Soul”

What’s up Maschine Masters fam. 88kezz here to bring you my assessment of yet another great sound pack by Lack Of Afro called ANALOGUE SOUL. For those of you that recall,  I recently reviewed SOULFUL BREAKS also by Lack of Afro which was great, so I was anxious to jump into this release as well. Brought to you by the masterminds over at LOOPMASTERS, they’ve once again proven themselves one of the leading go to sources for inspiration and production needs for everyone from beginners to professional Producers alike.

This kit is the first analog offering by DJ and Multi-instrumentalist Adam Gibbons aka Lack of Afro. A proven artist and sound designer with 4 successful albums and production credits such as the Pharcyde, Herbal T and many, many more. Gibbons, along with contributing musicians George Cooper, Lukas Drinkwater and Mike Badoni, bringtogether a soulful and funky collection of live instruments that would give any composition that throwback appeal and modern flava.

At first look you can expect to find well over 1.19 GB of well-produced ear candy recorded directly to tape on what seems to be a main staple in Lack Of Afro’s body of work the Fostex R-8 Reel to reel tape machine, Universal Audio La 610 all tube vintage pre-amp, and Neumann TLM Microphones. Have a look at what is included in this kit below.

  • 3 construction kits
  • 33 Bass Loops
  • 87 Drum Breaks
  • 34 Guitar Loops
  • 33 Hammond Loops
  • 53 Percussion Loops
  • 11 Piano Loops
  • 21 Wurlitzer Loops
  • 4 Clavinet Loops
  • 109 Drum One Shots
  • 26 SFX
  • 3 Multi Sampled Keys Instruments
  • 284 Rex2 Files
  • 18 Soft Sampler Instruments for Kontakt, Halion, Exs24, Nnxt and Sfz Formats.

All sounds are live, my favorite being the drums. A 1950’s premier drum kit lends seductive and smooth sounds that create dynamic one-shots, gritty drum breaks and solid percussion with just the right punch and subtle accents needed for that true organic touch. The Hammond L-100 organ riffs, vintage Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes pianos shimmer across every bar. The Fender jazz bass, Fender mustang, Epiphone and Sheraton guitars drip of funky yet soulful goodness. LP congas, bongos and shakers crackle and add the right spark and tribal nuance. Rounding off this exceptional collection of real sampled instruments are 3 construction kits and I must say they are well done ready to chop mix and match to your liking.

Compatible across multiple formats and soft synth players including Kontakt, NNXT, Halion, EXS24, Kong, and Dr Octorex also tagged for Native Instruments Machine for ease of browsing all to make the flow of work happen much faster and that in itself is a plus. In essence if Neo soul, funk and old school hip hop is your game then I fully recommend this analog chest hit making treasure. I for one really enjoyed this offering. My only disappointment was there were no horns, got to have my horns in a funky mix! Maybe next time. Make sure to head over to Loopmasters.com and check out all of the available formats and pricing options. Until then keep making good music. PEACE.
