Producers Choice – Piano Sessions Review

Producers Choice – Piano Sessions Review

What’s good guys, Woods here again and this time I’m reviewing “Piano Sessions” from the people over at www.ProducersChoice.com The first thing I am going to say is that this pack is made up of 4 different loop packs so at $47 its already looking like a pretty decent deal. Here are the specifications for the kit that I took from the Producers Choice website to give you an idea of what you get within this pack.

  • Over 80 full loops (231 files in total, over 500MB of content)
  • Organised into folders (Basic, Advanced, Complex, Left Hand Movements, Instant Inspiration etc.)
  • HQ 24 bit WAV. format (MIDI files also included)
  • Each loop comes in two flavours – Dry and with reverb.
  • 100% Royalty Free – ideal for commercial use.
  • Works in ALL DAW’s, software and hardware
  • Played and recorded by classical pianist Sebastian G (classical soundtrack composer)

So where to start? Well, as mentioned in the specs for the kit the loops are separated into different folders to help you find what you’re looking for easily with styles ranging from chilled to hip hop.

The names of the folders make it pretty easy to figure out what you’re going to find within them, with names like Basic, Advanced, Complex, Left hand movements and Instant inspiration you just know straight away which folder has what you’re looking for. Also included is a folder named Wav. Samples, which contains some scale runs up and down in C Major and Minor and a few other random loops for a bit of extra content.

Once I started listening through the different folders I quickly noticed that a lot of the loops have variations of the performance in different folders making it easy to mix and match from folder to folder, either chopping and creating your own loops or create progressions throughout your song. For example, you may take a loop from the basic folder for your intro and then take a variation from the advanced folder for your main verse or if you’re like me and love chopping stuff up then it allows a lot of freedom to create your own loops.

If we then add the midi files in to the mix were talking about a lot creative possibility from this pack. Not only can you drag the midi files into any DAW or host that’s supports midi to rearrange, change or add notes to suit your needs. Simply load up your favorite VST (Bass, Synths, Strings, Organ etc.) then drag the midi files to that track and the piano loop becomes another variation played using your favorite sounds. So you can imagine that it won’t take long to start making great sounding beats after purchasing this kit.

Although I have only spent a little bit of time with this kit I can already see that I am going to have a lot of fun with it. I’m excited to see what I can come up with as the versatility of this kit is amazing. When you factor in time stretching, pitching, FX and the ability to change the notes or even the sound of the midi notes, I think it’s safe to say that you could create lots of nice sounding music using this pack without the risk of your beats sounding the same.

I highly recommend this kit to anybody whether you’re a beginner looking for a bit of help getting ideas flowing or more advanced just looking for some inspiration. Until next time, this is Woods signing off.
