CARDIAK PRESENTS: THE MINOR SCALES KIT REVIEW

CARDIAK PRESENTS: THE MINOR SCALES KIT REVIEW

What up world! Its 4AR once again and I’m back with a new stem review. When we listen to music, how does it makes us feel? Does it makes us think of “Happy”, excited to “Turn Up”, or more of a feeling of “Darkness”/ “Scary”. These are the characteristics of scales being major or minor. Cardiak Presents: The Minor Scales. With a total of about 20 loops, the people of HeartFelt Music put together a slew of minor chords and progressions to instantly put you in the mood of eloquently dark piano sound scapes.

All files are in 16 bit format that are lush sounding and full within the frequency spectrum. TMS are organized and labeled by tempo ranging from 70-90BPM. Very well played melodies that are dynamic as they cover all octaves of left handed bass notes to right handed twinkle of the keys. Unlike other piano loops that give you a predetermined pocket for drum patterns, TMS leaves the imagination up to the producer.

With a basic layout of 8 bar loops, they do cut off abruptly. For example, when working on a track with a TMS loops and I want to take it out in the next sequence, it would sound unnatural like the sample had no tail end. Another thing I would’ve like to see is that each loop was also labeled in the proper key. As young producers begin to learn musical scales, something simple as a label will help train the ears to easily find the proper notes to add more sounds to the beats. Even adding the stems would supply more variation for arrangement.

Listed at the price of $19.99 ($1 per loop), TMS is a good product for the money. Sounds are never constricted as we can chop, flip and reverse to stretch out what we are working with. Using our new rating system for Maschine Masters, I give this kit 12/16 pads. Check out the demo below to see if this is something you can apply to your productions!
