!llmind’s BoomTrap the Drums Review

!llmind’s BoomTrap the Drums Review

I’m jumping right into this review because if the constraints surrounding this kit. It’s the latest from Blap master !llmind limited to the first 200 producers that can snatch it up. I’ve been there right from the beginning of Hip Hop and I’ve seen all the different phases that Hip Hop has gone thru and although Trap isn’t new anymore it’s becoming more and more of a big part of our culture… dare I say the new Golden Era for this new generation, just because some don’t like it don’t make it wack I ain’t hating I’m just being honest

The first folder The Beats consist if 8 track produced by !llmind. When you listen to these tracks you’ll see how sub genres get created. Now what I mean by that is, these aren’t your normal everyday Trap beats. These are Trap beats as !llmind sees Trap beats. Now I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with !llmind so when I listen to these tracks I grin because I know he ain’t bout that life, but he bout them beats and this is his spin on Trap music. His style of production is just so ingrained in him that it can’t help but shine through… and it’s all good because the end result is a new style of production.

01 Po Po Comin
02 Snake Charmer
03 Mugshot
04 Sinner
05 March
06 Far East Pt. II
07 Double Cross Me 2
08 Whisle

The second folder The Kits are just that… the kits. The first folder Po Po Comin is 10 sounds which are all nicely Eq’d. You get 1 drum loop, 2 grunt sounds, 2 snares, 2 kicks, 2 Hi Hats and 1 808 sub to complete the folder. The way that these sounds are Ed’d really makes the kit stand out.

Snake Charmer is 13 sounds… it’s 1 EFX, 2 Kicks, 3 Snares, 1 808 sub, 1 filtered sound, 1 Snare Roll, 2 Grunts, 1 Hi Hat and 1 Loop. When you listen to the MP3 of Snake Charmer you will see that !llmind really did his thing in the drum programming department.

Mugshot is one of the biggest kits besides Whisle. It’s 15 sounds… 1 Trap Snare Roll (classic), 1 Clap, 1 Clap, 3 Grunt, 1 Hi Hat, 3 Kicks, 3 Snares, 1 808 Sub and 1 Sweeping EFX. These are sure to be a favorite among a lot of “die hard” Trapsters.

The Sinner folder is made up of 12 sounds that consist of more traditional 808 drums. The first 6 drums are classic 808 sounds… short Hi Hat, open Hi Hat, long Hit hat, long Kick, short Kick and Snare. Other sounds in this kit are 2 Grunts, 2 Loops, 1 Snare Roll and 1 EFX Snare.

Without giving too much away I’ll say that the 4 remaining kits are all equally as good. !llmind has done it again! He’s definitely working on securing his spot again for this years top 10 Drum kits of 2014. If your lucky enough to grab one of these kits I strongly suggest you do so…Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Well it’s your boy the Maschine Gang General E52BEATS signing off. Until next time stay tuned and stay bangin’… Peace
