Stix – Jam Pack Review

Stix – Jam Pack Review

When it comes to taking live drums and creating a drum kit, Stix is on the level with the greatest of them.  Just to share a little information about Stix, he is a renowned drummer and musician. He is sponsored by Sabian Cymbals and Ludwig Drums and is also Chance The Rapper’s current drummer. This kit is like a gift from the drum gods. Masterfully crafted and put together for us to create our next big track. The sounds provided are original sounds from sessions with legendary producers Jeff Tweedy and Mario C (Beastie Boys Producer). Everything was recorded using a vintage 8078 Neve Console and other professional recording equipment.

The pack features over 100 original drums from snares, live claps, kicks, and 808’s, drum loops, etc. No producer is complete with out at least ONE live drums sound pack. If you’re missing out, I suggest you get this kit NOW! Let me get started by telling you about kicks, snares, hats, and crashes. The basics when it comes to creating drums for any beat. The kicks are real beefy and hard-hitting. They will add that extra fill your low end is missing. Unlike most live drum sound packs, these kicks are extra boomy. The snares are crisp and snappy. The way they captured that snap is unbelievable. You can tell that Neve Console came in handy. The same goes for the crashes and hats. Clear sounding with just the right amount of EQ to really bring them to life.

My only problem with this pack was the fills and loops. Some loops were repetitive and sounded rushed to me personally. That doesn’t go to say I don’t like this kit, I think this is an amazing kit, I just wish the loops and fills were a little more thought out. Regardless, I would recommend this kit to any producer from any genre. Overall I score this kit an 8/10. Great unique drum sounds and quality is amazing. Looking forward to more kits from Stix.
