Minty Breaks 2 Kit Review

Minty Breaks 2 Kit Review

The perfect drum break; does it exist? Some may argue and say that Clyde Stubblefield’s “Funky Drummer” may be it. I mean, it is historically the most sampled drum break ever; Dr. Dre’s “Let Me Ride,” Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power,” or LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out.” While others may go with Kevin O’Neill’s “Impeach the President.” You can find it on the likes of Nas’ “I Can,” LL Cool J’s “Around the Way Girl,” or Janet Jackson’s “That’s the Way Love Goes.” While we may never know the answer to this question, our friends over at hiphopdrumsamples.com (Twitter @drumbroker) have dug into the crates for us and present us with “Minty Breaks 2.”

Inside this pack you find 50 raw, straight off the record rare grooves. You can begin chopping these instantly and re-grooving (I may or may not have just made up that word) or time stretching these loops as the foundation of your track. All the breaks in this kit vary in tempo, from 60 BPM all the way up to 120 BPM and beyond. What I found myself doing is chopping the drums, and saving them as full Maschine kits. Since some of these are not perfect loops, some truncating and editing will be involved, and if that’s a problem, you’re definitely in the wrong business.

For all you out there looking for the perfect drum loop, look no further than Minty Breaks 2. With the grittiness and rawness (yes I may or may not have just made up 2 more words) of the breaks in this kit, adding your own effects to make them your own will be a fun and creative task.
